To the Washington family my true condolences, these past five and a half months have been tough, life without Mr. Washington at Northwest School of the arts has not been the same, neither has the chorus group, I was a student of his in grades 6 through 8, and with help from his class those years were the best three years of my life, I have so many great memories because of that man, his heart was bigger then his mouth, and we all looked at him like a grandfather, a father and a true mentor,...

Mr. Washington; may your light shine forever so brightly in heaven. For we all will miss you and forever will your legacy continue to prosper. May GOD bless you and your family during this time; and my deepest sympathy goes to you, your family; and loved ones!

Washingon family, I am rendered speechless and sit in awe of the accomplichiments of this awesome man of God whom has been called to rest from his labor...He was my daughter's most phenomenal inspiration...He and I had the pleasure of embracing her first performance at Charlotte's Blumenthal Theater Janurary 2009...He was one proud man a product of his vast knowledge of the art of music..Our prayers are with you ...

I had Mr Washington for almost 3 years at Harding High in the early 80's . He was an awesome teacher, who had a passion for music,unlike anyone I've ever seen. Rest in peace Mr Washington! May your family be comforted during this time!

As I sit here at my sister's home in Victoria, British Columbia, the funeral for my dear friend is occuring. Unfortunately, I cannot be present physically, but I'm definitely present in spirit.

Michael was a dear friend for over 30 years, and our years together at Northwest will always be fondly remembered. He was a true inspiration to both his students, their parents, and his fellow teachers.
