Michael Raymond Kondwros, known to many as “Mike” and affectionately nicknamed “Smokey” passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the age of 62. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mike entered this life on March 22, 1963, in Clarksville, TN. He was a 1981 graduate of Northwest High School, where he played on the baseball, basketball, and golf teams. He always enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and teaching his grandchildren the ways of the woods. On Saturday nights, you could find Mike at Clarksville Speedway. He enjoyed being in the pits working on the 93 car alongside his best friends. In 2019, after the loss of his grandson, Mike gave his life to Jesus and was baptized shortly after. He spent most of his life as a talented carpenter and framer. In recent years, you could find him working alongside his son.
In addition to his maternal and paternal grandparents, he is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Kondwros; grandson, Jonathan Atkins, and best friends, Mike Arnold “Ziffel”, and Charles Zimmerman “Chico”.
Survivors include his parents, Anna and Larry “Butch” Shelby; the mother of his children and love of his life, Cheryl Poff-Kondwros; daughter, Erika Kondwros-Bowles; son, Kyle Kondwros, and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Shelby Atkins (Adam Carlew), Carly Bowles, Cora Kondwros, and Jones Kondwros, and great-grandson, Waylon Carlew.
Pallbearers will be Cole Zimmerman, Jerry Trotter “Mutt”, Pedro Belligio, Robbie Robinson, Bubba Bowen, Harold “Beaner” Spink, Stan Canady, and Robert Chaney.
