Mildred Williams Obituary

Mildred Burnett Mullis Williams "Sal" MOUNT HOLLY - Mildred Burnett Mullis Williams "Sal", went on her final journey to join her family in Heaven on Friday June 22, 2012. Sal was born on July 24, 1915 in Mount Holly, NC to William P. and Margaret W. Mullis. In addition to her parents, Sal was preceded in death by her husband Thompson Woodrow Williams, 3 brothers John David Mullis, Frederick Berry Mullis and Henry Ervin Mullis, her 3 sisters Della Mullis Broome, Emma Caroline Mullis and Eunice "Bibber" Mullis. Sal is survived by her son Shannon Williams of Mount Holly and her daughter Cindy Payne and son in law Jack Payne Jr. of Mount Holly. Also surviving her are 3 grandchildren Jennifer Medici and husband Brian of Stanley, Kelly Robb and husband Steven of Stanley and Jeff Payne of Mount Holly. Great grandchildren Nate, Rachel and Emmit Medici of Stanley, Collin and Anna Kate Robb of Stanley, and Fletcher and Scarlett Payne of Gastonia. Sal is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Until her death, Sal was the oldest living member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, member of the church choir, member of the 49ers, and active in many church outreach programs. Sal loved her family and friends deeply and enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with them. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Catawba Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Max Pendelton and Reverend Richard Brown officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times will be at the home of Cindy and Jack Payne, 107 Homesley Road, Mount Holly. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, NC and to Gaston County Hospice. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston County, PO Box 3984 Gastonia NC 28054 or to Catawba Heights Baptist Church, 311 Belmont Mt Holly Rd. Belmont, NC 28012. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly is serving the family.

I told mom about her passing yesterday when we found out about supper time. Mom said "she'll be missed here. She was very well thought of."
