Milford Murphy Obituary

Murphy
Milford Titus Patrick "Pat" Murphy age 89, peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on March 28, 2011. He was born in Waco, Texas to Henry Jerome Jeremiah Murphy and Mildred Agnes Shields Murphy. He attended Catholic school in Waco until his family moved to Houston, Texas in 1936. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1939 and attended Texas A & M University where he studied mechanical engineering.
In 1942, Pat joined the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably in the Pacific until after World War II ended in 1945. After the war, he returned to college and later worked at Union Carbide in Texas City, Texas; Darling Valve; Marchem; IMO and other companies first as lubrication and design engineer and later as a sales engineer.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Henry Jeremiah Murphy, Jr and Eugene Weldon Murphy; and his wife of 55 years, Connie Metcalf Murphy.
He is survived by his loving wife Christina Ann Furey Murphy; his daughter, Maureen Ruth Murphy Singleton and her husband David Bryan; his son Michael Patrick Murphy; his grandson Robert Patrick Singleton and his wife Shelly; his granddaughter, Jessica Lenore Murphy Feyereisen and her husband Seth; his grandson Bryan Murphy; his grandson Ryan Murphy; and his great-grandchildren Shannon and Connie Singleton and Kaleb and Savannah Feyereisen.
He was a faithful Christian and attended church every Sunday until recently when his health failed. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. The family wants to thank Monsignor Roland and Father Frances of Notre Dame Catholic Church and the chaplain at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for their priestly visits at the hospitals and at home.
He was an honorable and ethical man who lived his life well. He fulfilled God's mission for his life by giving his all to his faith, his family, his work, his community, and others. His family will love him always, remember all the lessons and gifts of life he gave over the years, and miss him very much.

Maureen:

I was one of the lucky ones--to have known Paw Paw Murphy. I will always cherish the backyard BBQs, trips to Kyle Field with David, Paw Paw Murphy and J.C. He was truly a great man, an American hero and what we should all strive to be in a person. The Faith he instilled in you and everyone around him will get you through this difficult time. Samantha and the triplets and I are saddened by his loss, but are so much better off having known him.

Hugs and prayers.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Murphy, but I do have the pleasure of knowing his lovely and talented daughter Maureen Murphy Singleton. I am sad for her loss and have offered prayers that "Light Perpetual" shine upon her recently departed father and that she and her family are blessed with the peace and grace of GOD.
