My condolences to the family! Milton was my Peabody High School Band Family and Neighborhood friend! My prayers are with you

To the family l say God will take care of you.
Milton L. Johnson and l were in the Music Department at Virginia State during the same years. He was such a gifted musician! Our theory teacher was Undine Smith Moore. What a great experience it was for us all. Milton had such a humble spirit. He enjoyed assisting and mentoring younger musicians.

GONE TOO SOON, FALLEN TROJAN. Milton Lee Johnson was a great trumpeter, but even a better person. Milton and I were not in the VSU “Marching 110” band at the same time. He came on the “hill” in the late 60s after me. We always enjoyed talking about our band experiences, especially with Pops Gatlin. Rest in peace Brother Milton. You were an important part of my childhood growing up in Petersburg, Virginia. I have fond memories of playing baseball and other sports on Harding Street. Although our journeys have not intersected in recent years, I have always admired your accomplishments and the great thing you have done in your life.
