Natasha Eiland will always be remembered by me for the keenness of her perception that fine tribal textiles need be understood as true Art with a capital A and not just ethnography. To that end, she created to my knowledge the first gallery in the Bay Area devoted exclusively to showing of such pieces,separate from the family rug business, circa 1979-80.
