My memory certainly isn't what it used to be, but I will never forget Nathan - his infectious smile, his generosity, and his passionate love of learning and appreciation of education. He was a very special person, who had a rare gift for making others (myself included) feel special. He made his mark. God bless him and his exceptional family......John Germann

Nathan was our neighbor growing up on E. Haley Street in Midland, Michigan. He was good friends with my parents. Back then, Gilligan´s Island was a hit tv show. We thought Nathan was a look-alike for Gilligan. Of course Nathan went off to do amazing things - like going to the University of Cincinnati for his doctorate. We thought he was cool.

I came to know Nathan and Mary as their sons' 11th-grade History teacher. On several occasions they caringly and generously invited me out to dinner to chat about "things." I found Nathan to be exceedingly kind, exceedingly thoughtful, and exceedingly interested in the world around him. He was a joy, and a very special person. And he afforded me a genuine privilege in getting to know him. He will be missed by those who knew him and by a world which needed him.

We are so sad about the loss of Nathan. It was always so wonderful to be greeted by his hello and huge smile-no matter if we were in the hall, at the board meeting or in the Happy Hour. I love hearing his stories about his and Mary's travels all over the world. He was a hero to all of us at the Houstonian Estates when he spent hundreds of hours updating our internet and video access.
