In the mid to late sixties Dr. Neena Schwartz was on the faculty at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center. I became acquainted with her because we were in the process of establishing the Bioengineering program at the Chicago campuses of the University. I remember her as an independent and outside-the-box thinker, and a strong supporter of our efforts. She was intellectually impressive, and passionate about women's medical issues.
