Born in Panama City, FL on June 28, 1953, Jean was a daughter of the late Charlie C. and Runella (Reed) Carlisle.
She was 1971 graduate of Reading High School.
Jean was an employee with the Reading Hospital in Housekeeping for 10 years before retiring in 2013. Prior to that, she was employed for 20 plus years with Wilson Safety Products.
Jean was very active with her church, True Faith Independent Holiness, where she was a member for 10 years. She was very proud of her ministries with the church. She sang in the choir and was the Mother of the Church, a member of the Pastors Support Ministry, Missionary, the Truth Faith Regrowth Ministry and the Finance Ministry.
She was well-known for her cooking and it is said that her potato salad and pound cake were the best! Family meant everything to her. She enjoyed babysitting and looking after her grandchildren. In her spare time, she loved to read and enjoyed playing Solitaire.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Porsha M. Carlisle of Reading; two grandchildren, Khanya U. Carlisle-Patience of Arlington, TX and Khalil W. Carlisle of Reading; three brothers: Cory L., Charlie E. and Vincent M. Carlisle, all of Reading; and a sister, Sherry S. Carlisle of Reading.
Also surviving are her two aunts, Nellie Dean Simmon of Detroit, MI and Lori A. Carlisle of Panama City, FL; two brothers-in-law, Mathis "Tom" Saffore of Tampa, FL and Robert Huggins of Palm Coast, FL; a sister-in-law, Martha Jean "Jean" Carlisle Charles of Reading; and her best friend of 46 years, Bonnie L. Dawkins and her husband, Billy of Reading.
In addition to her parents, Charlie and Runella, Jean is predeceased by two brothers, Royce C. and Michael R. Carlisle; and two sisters, Zalnetta E. (Carlisle) Saffore and Delores N. Carlisle Huggins.
A Going Home Service for Jean will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, in True Faith Independent Holiness, 1017 Old River Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508. Family and friends will be received in the church on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. Jean will be laid to rest beside her parents in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
