Not sure what to say?

Seeing Nick was one of the highlights of my day when I was delivering mail. We had some great conversations. We talked about just about everything! My condolences to his family .

Dear Jackie and family
Just heard the sad news about Nick's passing. He was one of the kindest, sensitive, empathic and brilliant persons I have ever known. Jackie I am so sorry.

Dear Jackie and family, I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. When I was your letter carrier I looked forward to seeing him everyday. If it wasn't a delivery at your house I would see him around St. Mary's or on Hilltop or Old Battery Rd. Getting his daily walk in. I cherished the conversations we had ! Again I am so sorry for your loss, May God comfort you and embrace you with His Love. Sincerely Tom Dunne

Read with sadness Prof. Rinaldi's Obituary in the NYTS today. I was a student in his Modern American Novel class back in 1970 at Fairfield. It was the spring of student strikes and boycotts. He handled it all very well. An enjoyable and memorable teacher. Will be reading (and re-reading) his novels. Rest in Peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Jackie. Nick was my first creative writing professor at Fairfield (class of 1992). I loved his sense of humor, his passion for good writing, and his books. He was my first mentor. I wouldn't have become a writer and creative writing professor without him.

I'll remember him fondly.

Jackie,
You and Nick warmly welcomed us to Fairfield when we arrived in 1967 and remained good friends through our rich cultural ties to the university. We traveled vicariously through the magic adventures of Nick's four novels. He was a gifted writer and an affectionate friend. Our sincere condolences.

Tina and Jacqueline,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your dad and husband. My father was also a professor at Fairfield University and I went there for two years.

Tina, I enjoyed your stories about your dad. I believe I met him once. The write up on this page is wonderful. What a full life he had.
Best,
Mary Kay
P.S. We are now living in the Houston Texas area.

Our profound sympathy to Jackie, Tina, Paul, Stephen, David and families. Remembering your most talented, witty and friendly father. Part of our Fairfield University faculty family and our Fairfield town family with Lawrence and James. With love and memories of a life so well lived. Leo and Adrienne Fay

Professor Rinaldi was my English professor at Fairfield U in 1978 and he required the reading of 10 classic novels. Wasnt a big reader and reluctant to take them on but the class became one of the best classes I ever had. RIP
