Norma Diniz Obituary

Norma Diniz
Norma Diniz, 86, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Spring Village of Danbury residence on September 13, 2025.
Norma was born in Danbury, CT in 1939 and was the daughter of Manuel and Anna Martins. Norma attended Danbury public schools and was a class of 1956 graduate of Danbury High School.
In 1958, Norma married the love of her life, Alcino Diniz of Danbury. She would be married to Al for 59 years until his passing in 2018.
In 1967, Norma and Al moved their family from Danbury to Ridgefield, CT where they established, owned and worked at their two hair salons, The American House of Charm and The Village Beauty Salon, for over 40 years.
Norma was a fantastic cook. For decades, she hosted many a holiday in Ridgefield. She really enjoyed the family gatherings and created happy memories for all. Starting in the late 1960s, Norma and Al would take the family on vacation to the southern Jersey shore town of Wildwood Crest. After falling in love with Wildwood, her and Alcino built a summer home. Norma got to know wonderful people and neighbors that became cherished lifelong friends. The thing that Norma loved most of all was her family, which she was so proud of. She looked forward to and cherished being with the family no matter what the occasion. There were many great memories.
The family would like to thank all the people at Spring Village of Danbury. They were her second family. She was loved and cared for every day she was there, especially her last days she was with us.
Norma is survived by her son Darrell and wife Barbara Diniz of Milford, MA, son Duane Diniz and Timothy Mahoney of Norwalk, CT; grandchildren Christopher Diniz of Milford, MA and Courtney Tracy, husband Tyler and great grandson Callan Tracy of Mendon, MA; and sister Elizabeth and husband Paul Naves of Danbury, CT. Norma is also survived by nieces and a nephew and their children from Danbury, CT and Milford, MA.
A visitation for Norma will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, with burial at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Dear Diniz family,
My mother, also named Norma (Contessa) was a long time patron of American House of Charm on Main Street Ridgefield, as was my Grandmother, Ida Fossi. My mother had great respect for Alcino and Norma when they started the Grassroots soccer program in Ridgefield. They would drive and feed the kids from game to game. They gave so much of themselves to this program and we were thrilled when Alcino was honored by the Old Timers Association. Amazing people and a wonderful couple. I spent many Saturdays going with my mother and seeing Albano, Alcino, Norma and Simone.
May wonderful memories of your Mom be of comfort to you in the days ahead.

Thinking of you and family, my mom Lillian Recine Ramey worked for Al at beauty salon for many years and she loved them both. May they rest in peace with the angels
