OPAL JEFFERY Obituary

OPAL MAY JEFFERY Opal May Jeffery, of Independence, MO passed away on Monday, September 11th, 2023. She was 96. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Wednesday, September 20th with a service following at 2pm, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W Lexington Ave.; Independence, MO 64052. Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence. Opal was born on October 21, 1926, in Kansas City, MO, to William S. and Inez Mashburn. She graduated from East High School then married her beloved husband, Bruce E. Jeffery on August 1, 1947. Opal worked for approximately 30 years as an Administrative Assistant at R.B. Jones & Sons/Alexander & Alexander. She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Independence and a long-time member of the United Methodist Women. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Bruce Jeffery; brother, James Mashburn; and her sisters, Clara Field and Jean Ottavino. She is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the nursing staff at Redwood of Carmel Hills for their loving care of Opal. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or Wayside Waifs.
