Not sure what to say?

I knew Otto from 1972 until his death, and I enjoyed his plain-spoken intellectual honesty and incisiveness. I'll miss his cut-through-the-nonsense commentary and his incisive wit.

You remain bright in my heart. "The good thing about getting older is that their is always a new beginning." Thank you.

I was so sorry to learn of Dr. von Mering's passing. I was one of his graduate assistants in 1992-93 and 1995-97. He was also one of my committee members for my Ph.D. He was always very kind and took a personal interest in all of his students. It was evident that he wanted us all to succeed in our chosen fields. We kept in touch over the years and I was always amazed with his ongoing commitment to living and learning. He will be missed. My sincerest sympathies to all his family.

I worked with Otto von Mering when he was the Director of The Center for Gerontological Studies and was impressed with his availability to this students, so remarkable for a prolific researcher and writer. He was one of the most intellectually stimulating colleagues, and I hope the family finds comfort knowing how through his work he has improved the lives of thousands of people.

I did not know Dr. Otto von Mering but I had the great privilege of working with his son, Greg, during my residency at UF. I have always been told that the true legacy of a great man lives on in his children and I believe Dr. von Mering has left a legacy he can be proud of.

I worked with Dr von Mering for a year in 1987. He was the sweetest boss a person could ask for. He was such a dedicated, funny, and kind man. He will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. May you find comfort with the memories.
