Andrews Mortuary and Crematory - Market Street Chapel - Wilmington Obituary

Owen Bryant Carlin passed on from this earth with peace and serenity at age 89, on March 29, 2021, after a long journey with chronic illnesses. Owen followed in death his wife Rose by 3 weeks to the day and hour, a testament to the love they had for each other, which was a blessing to them as...

Not sure what to say?

Fond memories of this great man wash over me in a sweet wave. So rarely do the elements mix together to produce as gentle and genuine a soul as Owen Carlin. He spread his warmth and kindness to all whose lives he touched. Owen was a kindred spirit of nature and delighted others with his knowledge, whether it be describing a plant in his garden or identifying which bird was perched on a branch just outside the window. May he rest easy with his beloved sweetheart. Rose's desire to have her true...

I am remembering Owen and his delightful family in their large home on Rutherford's Ridge Road --- his Mother canning large baskets of overripe tomatoes to the delight of everyone!. Or visiting his Grandmother high on a hill at Tyler Pond outside of Torrington/Goshen, Connecticut. My grandparents had a summer home there also, but sadly Owen and I did not realize this until after our graduation. We were never very close in high school, but were friends for a time afterwards until other...

The Rutherford High School class of "49 may have been small in number and large in being close to one another. We will always remember Owen as being very cheerful, caring and helpful. In later years at one of our reunions at his home, we discovered what a great horticulturist he was, growing an orchard of apple trees. May he rest in peace. Our condolences to his family.

Owen was a neighbor, classmate and dear friend from Rutherford, NJ. We met in the 4th grade and graduated together from Rutherford High School in June 1949. I and all our classmates where fortunate to have Owen in our lives, as children and then for many years thereafter. He was a joy to visit with he and Rose at his "Apple Farm" in New Jersey and to be with at the many class Reunions held by the RHS Class of 1949. He shall remain in my memory during my remaining years. Rest in peace my...

My Uncle Owen - He was a man from another time. Cooking over the fire, tending to his orchard, smoking his pipe and proudly presiding over his family. So many fond memories.... He leaves a legacy behind. A some big shoes to fill.

Tom, Susannah and Jen, it is not easy to lose two precious gems at the same time, but now they are shining in God’s Kingdom. Their legacy and good memories of them remain with us. Owen’s harmonica joins a chorus of angels and Rose’s cooking will adorn the heavenly banquet.

Tom, Jen, Susana, and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will miss Owen's humor and his sharp observations of life. Vic loved talking and arguing with him.
