Patricia Linn Obituary

Patricia Mercante Linn passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 29, 2023. Pat is survived by her three daughters, Donna Linn Degan (Michael), Susan Linn Tichenor (Rolla IV), and Patricia Ann Linn; her two grandchildren, Christina Marie Tichenor and Rolla A. "Beau" Tichenor V (Lisa); and two great grandchildren, Rolla A. "Roman" Tichenor VI and Christian Anthony Tichenor; her sister, Carol M. Porter; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving spouse of 64 years, the late Ronald Joseph Linn; her parents, Frank J. Mercante, Sr. and Frances Noto Mercante; her brothers, Joseph F. Mercante (Yvonne), and Frank J. Mercante, Jr. Born in New Orleans, Pat graduated from St. Rose De Lima Grammar School and St. Joseph Academy High School. She was employed by New Orleans Public Service. She was a parishioner of St. Angela of Merici Catholic Church for 44 years and was a member of several local organizations including: Les Nouvelles, the Junior Fellowship of the New Orleans Women's Club, Cancer Crusaders, St. Vincent du Paul Society, The Elenian Club, as well as a member and the score keeper of the Liverpool Rummy Ladies Card Group. Pat was most proud of her membership with the St. Angela of Merici "Church Ladies" group, attending Mass daily with her dear friends. Pat and Ronnie enjoyed travelling with family and friends, including 26 memorable cruises and traveling with the Touchdown Club of New Orleans. Pat lived her life to the fullest and felt her greatest accomplishment was her loving family. She truly lived a life of example in her love for God and instilled in others an equal appreciation of the Lord. She was deeply devoted to Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, prayed to him for intercessions and for his sainthood. She treasured her lifelong relationship with her sister, Carol, and they often referred to each other as "Sally." Pat will always be lovingly remembered by her family for her strong faith, love for her family, compassion, kindness, generosity, and selflessness. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Fr. Clayton J. "Beau" Charbonnet, III and Fr. Lawrence Murori for their support and inspiration. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. in Metairie with a Mass to follow at noon. Burial will be private.
