I met Patricia in Cancun, Mexico in 2005. She had taken one of her many trips there, but this was my first. We did not meet under the greatest circumstances, but became good friends. We got to know each other while stuck in a Category 5 hurricane. That hurricane's name was "Wilma". We helped each other survive and continued to make contact for the past five years. I supported her while she was ill and came to visit her this past May. I will miss her southern charm and wit. To all of her family and friends, I am sorry for your loss. She talked about you all and often in her many conversations. She loved you all. May peace be with her now. Jocelyn Stiggers (Sandy)

My condolences to Patti's family and friends. Patti has been my friend for 19 years and although I moved from Atlanta a number of years ago, we have kept in touch by phone. She truly loved people and it was so much fun listening to her adventures, her love of her sorority and the trips she took to visit friends and to play. I'm sorry she is gone. I will miss her. Patti was one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever known, and it is so hard to believe that she is gone. Whenever you had a problem or illness, she always sent a card. I am just thankful I had a chance to spend some time with her at our Beta Sigma Phi Convention and Founders Day, and we had a chance to really talk. I will truly miss her.

Patti will be missed by all that had the true privilege of meeting and knowing her. I along with many others meet her through her service to Beta Sigma Phi and she was such a joy to serve with. Having moved from the Atlanta area it was always great to hear about her latest goings and comings, she truly did live life to the fullest. I feel honored to have been able to call her "my friend".

Patti was a very wonderful woman. She always had a smile and helped people around her to have a better day. Patti was a member of my sorority for 20+ years and if she was asked to do a project, you could be sure it was completed.
Patti, it was so wonderful that we shared some wonderful moments in Albany at the Beta Sigma Phi Convention. Patti, you will be missed by many friends and sorority sisters.
We know you are in a better place.

Patti was my closest and dearest friend having known her for over 24 years. She was the one who introduced me to Beta Sigma Phi, an organization that she gave her heart and soul to – there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do in BSP. Patti truly exemplified Beta Sigma Phi in every way - she was one of the Good, the True and the Beautiful. She loved her education career and was looking forward upon retirement to travel and doing so many things she wanted to do. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it. She was so much fun to be around and so giving of herself and had such a lively sense of humor. She always had a smile on her face and a cheer in her voice that simply lighted up the room when anyone arrived. She loved to reminisce about the “good ol’ days” and our “shopping” days. I’m really going to miss our talks – every 2 weeks she would call me and the following 2 weeks I would call her – this was the way it was when I moved away from Georgia to Florida and then to North Carolina. She was my constant friend all through these many years and it is really hard to say goodbye to my wonderful friend and sister. In closing, this poem comes to mind -
Patti, I did not see you close your eyes,
Or hear your last faint sigh
I only heard that you were gone,
Too late to say goodbye.
Goodbye Patti, my dear, sweet, very special and wonderful friend and sister. You will be sorely missed.
To the family, I share in your loss and in your affliction. May the knowledge that your friends share your sorrow be a solace to you, and may your happy memories of the past bring you a measure of comfort and peace in the days ahead. While her bodily presence may now be absent, her ongoing energy and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
All my love, Rebecca (Becky) Laverty
