Columbus, GA- Command Sergeant Major Paul A. Bingham passed away at Columbus Hospice on March 7. Originally from Scranton, PA, Bingham was a long-time resident of Columbus. As a highly decorated veteran of three wars, he was one of only a few hundred infantrymen to receive the Combat Infantry Badge with 2 stars. His awards include a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, three Purple Hearts, and 13 other medals. He worked for Bickerstaff Clay Products after 28 years of active duty. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sarah G. Bingham. He is survived by three children: Paul A. Bingham Jr. (Sally) of Auburn AL, Ginger Bingham Garver (Dan), of Stephens City, VA, and Carol S. Bingham of Columbus GA. Grandchildren are Tom Anthony Bingham (Amy), Katherine Bingham Pfaffenberger (James) and Nell Rebecca Garver. Great grandchildren are Patrick Anthony Bingham and Mattie Elizabeth Bingham. Services will be Wednesday March 11. Visitation at 10:am and funeral Mass at 11:am, at the World War II Chapel at the Infantry Museum, Ft Benning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
