Paul Farmer Obituary
Paul Keith Farmer, 49, of Houston, TX died following a tragic accident on October 23, 2014. He was born in Midland, TX on July 1, 1965, the fourth son of Glen and Janet Farmer. Paul graduated from Canyon High School in Canyon, TX and earned a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1987.
Paul then moved to Houston, TX to discover the blessings of a loving family, loyal friends, and a successful career with Chevron. He met his wife, Kareen Farmer at Clear Lake's University Baptist Church where they later married in February 1989. Four years later they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Lindsey - their pride and joy. Paul and Kareen celebrated their 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary this year.
Paul enjoyed a rewarding career with Chevron serving in many areas including key Engineering and Marketing roles. He loved his job and counted many members of the Chevron family among his closest friends.
Although he left us much too soon, Paul's passion for life guaranteed that he shared many more rich experiences than a lot of us could ever imagine. He was a true renaissance man. He sailed on multiple ocean cruises, skied snow-capped mountains and glassy waters, motorcycled on open desert plains and rolling country roads, and waded through the clear waters of countless tropical beaches - all in the company of his loving family and friends.
Paul's passion for travel adventures was surpassed only by his love of music. He never missed a chance to take a free moment and cradle one of his 11 stringed instruments and "sooth his soul" as he put it, while he effortlessly strummed, picked or jammed an original or cover tune of his choosing. His joy and talent were evident whether he played contemporary Christian music during a Sunday morning service or led a jam session on the preceding night. But those who knew him best, know that Blues held a special place in his heart. It is fitting that the next time many of us hear a classic Blues song, we will stop - and smile - while we savor bittersweet memories of Paul - an unavoidable sadness for our loss, mixed with overwhelming joy when we recall the special moments he shared with us before he was called home to his heavenly Father.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kareen Farmer, of Houston TX; his daughter, Lindsey Farmer, of Waco TX; and his mother, Janet Farmer, of Midland TX. He is also survived by three brothers: David Farmer, of Garland TX; Brian Farmer, of Amarillo TX; and Kyle Farmer of Arlington TX.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held at the Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, TX on Tuesday, October 28th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place the following afternoon, Wednesday, October 29th at University Baptist Church 16106 Middlebrook Dr Houston, TX at 1:30 P.M. It was truly a blessing to have known Paul as our close family friend. We will treasure all the great memories of time spent together - the indian princess camping trips and Schlitterbahn with the girls, the guys ski trips and football games, and especially the bucket list trips. I was so sorry about Paul. My heart is broken, but the memories of "jamming" with him in and outside of UBC are incredible and cherished. Some of the best and most memorable times I've had were chasing him down a snowy mountain and admiring his adventurous enthusiasm and love for his family as we rode the chair lift back up. I had the opportunity of working with Paul for almost 8 years. Paul was one of the most kind and patient managers I have ever known. He always had a kind word to say, a smile on his face and was full of passion in whatever he did. I'll never forget his last words to me which were kind words of encouragement and I'll forever cherish the fun memories of him playing his guitar at the team party. It was very evident that there was nothing more important to Paul than his family.

Paul was never without a smile or a kind and caring word. He always made an effort to make sure everyone felt welcome and special. It was an honor to know him so many years. Seeing him setting the example of Christ in all that he did and said will continue to ripple through the generations. I am just shocked. We were all together a month ago: Paul, Kareen, Lanell, and me. It was wonderful to see everyone from the old days again. Everyone was doing so well. Paul complained some about his ankle, but not too much. He was interested in me and how I was. I felt blessed to be able to see my old friends again, all in the same place. It felt wonderful. Although I am very sad now, I feel doubly blessed to have been able to see Paul one more time before his passing. Kareen and Lindsey, you and I both know he loved you very much. I love you too. Paul was a man who truly followed the "Golden Rule". He simply treated people the way he would want to be treated. we did not get the opportunity to meet his family but I can tell you that he was one of the most 'straight up" business people I have ever dealt with. It was so natural to see Paul coming through our back door with our son, Scott McMillan, when we were neighbors in Canyon, Texas and to have shared times with his wonderful family. Paul was one of my favorite people at work. He taught me how to get along with all of the engineers and operators at Cedar Bayou and we worked together off and on supporting the Chemicals business for many years. Paul will be greatly missed, he's gone too soon. We are losing an excellent colleague, and a very good friend.
Although I didn't meet his family, he spoke often about them, and it was evident how much he loved his family.
My prayers that the Lord will give them comfort in these difficult moments.

Paul was such a special person. He always met you with his bright eyes and a huge smile. He had such a calm, helpful, and wise spirit...the calm in the storm. As we like to refer to those that we know like him...he was "the voice of reason." I consider it a privilege to have known him. He will be greatly missed.

Paul loved to lead worship with his guitar. He would smile and play his heart out during church services. I loved watching his face while he played. There is a big hole in the worship team now. We are so sorry for the loss to his family and so grateful that we got to know him through the years.

The Browns are so shocked and saddened, to the core. The farmers and us all were so blessed knowing & fellowshipping with Paul so many years. Knowing God's angels are rejoicing at his arrival in heaven, I hope we can learn to focus on this hard to grasp fact so it becomes our cheer. We pray for you Lindsey & kareen, and Paul's bothers/families, can't imagine how hard this is to deal with. We all need to be thankful for every day the Lord gives us & our loved ones. In Christ the Lord, who saves us from our despair.
