He visited Ireland several times while studying in England or while travelling to or from the Xaverian order's headquarters in Bruges, Belgium. What a shock! My cousin Paul and I just had lunch together in Danvers and while his body may have been 92, his mind was as sharp as ever. We shared many family memories and talked of our shared religion. Paul has been my big brother for 76 years, my religious mentor and non-judgmental advocate. I will miss him greatly. My profound sympathy to the Xaverians Brothers upon the passing of Brother Paul who truly manifested humility, zeal, compassion and spirituality. He personified the best attributes and the real sacrifices of religious life, but taught his students/alumni how to be better people and to support the Xaverian educational mission. Brother Paul was my freshman teacher at St. John's High School and my treasured friend for decades thereafter. Rest in peace and your legacy lives on.
