Paul Michael Hauer was born on May 27, 1973 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Michael and Carol Hauer.  He graduated from Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin where he served as student council president and was honored to be the senior class speaker at his commencement ceremony.  He studied in Asunción, Paraguay as a foreign exchange student during the summer following his high school graduation.  Paul attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering.  He received the Marquette University Presidential Leadership Scholarship and represented his peers as a student government senator.  Paul worked in the field of biomedical engineering following completion of his undergraduate degree.  Paul continued his education at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Paul worked as an attorney at Centro Legal por Derechos Humanos, Inc. in Milwaukee and Waukesha where he applied his fluency in Spanish to serve the community.  Paul continued his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for over 15 years, most recently working at the Vel R. Phillips Juvenile Justice Center.  He was a dedicated public servant.

During Paul’s childhood, he demonstrated his vocal and theatrical talents while participating in various musical and theatrical productions in the Milwaukee area.  He performed with the Skylight Opera Company, the Great Lakes Opera Company, and Dominican High School.  He also performed as a soloist in a concert held by the United States Air Force Academy Choir at the Basilica of Saint Josaphat.

Paul also expressed his artistic talent through the creation of various artwork throughout his life.  He was passionate in his enjoyment of nature and was an active outdoorsman.  Paul treasured his time spent camping, fishing, hiking, birding, and biking.  He had a great love for art, music, and literature.  Paul participated in youth soccer and baseball leagues and remained a lifelong fan of these sports.  He also enjoyed conducting extensive research to document his family genealogy.

Not sure what to say?

Though we experience sadness at this excellent man´s departure I must believe The Creator recalled him according to His timeline. It was good to know you Paul.

In Memory of Paul Michael Hauer

Mike & Carol, Sara, Emily and Mark. My deepest sympathies for the loss of your dear son and brother, Paul. His touching memorial service reflected the many ways he changed the world for the better as a treasured gift to his family, friends, colleagues, and so many others he encountered and served. Peace and God Bless your family, and all who had the privilege of knowing Paul during his remarkable and memorable life of everlasting impact.

Great guy gone too soon!

Paul was a fantastic lawyer, a worthy adversary, and a caring and reasonable man. He will be missed. My deepest condolences for your loss.

Paul was an amazing young man in every way. His leadership, kindness and intelligence at Dominican both inside and outside the classroom made him so special. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless!

Dear Hauer family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Paul as a kind, sensitive, and intelligent person both in high school and beyond. Paul completed law school just as I was starting, and his words of encouragement and his own accomplishments served as an inspiration for me during some challenging times. I hope that you will find comfort in your memories and pride in having such a special person in your lives.

My condolences to the family, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Paul at the District Attorneys office. Paul was kind, courteous & always had a smile. He will truly be missed. GOD Bless!

Mother Hauer, your remarks were deeply Christian and profoundly wise. You have lost a splendid son and
focus with gratitude for God's gift of your years with Paul rather than on anger for his parting.

I am simply heartbroken to hear of Paul's sudden passing. He was such a respectful, smart, kind, patient, and funny man who I loved working with. He will surely be missed by so many. I was blessed to have known and worked with him. Thoughts and prayers to all of his family and friends to comfort your hearts. Take care and stay well
