Paul Aaron Plotkin, 100 years old, most recently of Derry, NH, and previously Delray Beach, FL, passed April 6, 2022, in Salem, MA, in hospice care. Born 1921, in Bridgeport, CT, to Philip and Ida (Barkon) Plotkin, Paul was raised in Stamford with his older brothers Robert and Leonard. His first cousin, William Wallach, was raised with him during the Great Depression, and they have been best friends ever since. Paul's wife of 47 years Estelle (Siegel) and his son Gary predeceased him. Paul attended Stamford High School, Yale University, and Columbia Law School. He worked in the Plotkin Lumber Yard, formed the law practice of King & Plotkin, and served on Stamford's Zoning Board of Appeals. A World War II Army infantryman, he was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and France's Legion d'honneur for surviving the sinking of the troopship SS Leopoldville which was torpedoed in the English Channel, Christmas Eve, 1944, in route to the Battle of the Bulge. Paul was an avid golf player and golf course ranger into his 90's, and a great toastmaster and joke teller. He enjoyed watching old Western movies/TV shows, Law & Order, playing bridge, and dancing to big band music. He is survived by his son Dana and daughter Diana, her husband, Clint, and grandchildren Janai, Andrew, Benjamin, Erica, Shanna, and great-grandchild Gianna.
