Like PapaMort I met Paul in 1966 when we were assigned to San Francisco for initial 707 training. Paul and I were roommates until training was completed. Paul was probably the most intelligent person I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Eventually we transferred to Miami and were able to spend a lot of time with him and his family. Paul and I were friends/classmates at Rome High School and Georgia Tech; fraternity brothers at Tech and shared the same co-op job with GE in Rome. After Tech we wandered away leading our own lives but stayed in touch and later reconnected. I stayed with Paul and Joan several times on rare visits to Rome and high school reunions. He came to visit me in the NC mountains. I always enjoyed Paul's wit and his tales. I've lost a good friend.

Paul was a lifelong friend of my husband Joe S. Payne, from time in Rome schools to time at Georgia Tech and beyond. I got to know Paul best when we were living in Coral Springs, FL in the mid 1970's and Paul and his family were as well, when he was flying for Pan AM. Over the years we spent a good amount of time together once we moved back to Georgia in 1984 and Paul was back in Rome. Thinking of Joan and his family during this time.
