Deepest condolences for the family and anyone that knew him. Mr. Wherry was my 5th grade teacher at South Wayne 1981-1982. I had a horrible home life and always looked forward to going to school and seeing his smiling face! He listened when I needed someone to talk to and always had the most kind and loving words. Grandpa, you are the grandparent I judge all others by. Your love was so easily given, you never hid it or used it as currency. You were always ready to play and make us laugh. I hope you have found peace with grandma, wherever that is. I hope to live up to the version of myself you both always saw so easily in me. You are both terribly missed and forever loved. What a wonderful teacher, great soul and a very kind person. I attended South Wayne Elementary. He was my 6th grade teacher. Throughout my life I would often think about him. He was the Perfect Teacher. I will always remember him. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I attended South Wayne in the 70´s and had Mr Wherry as my 6th grade teacher. I consider him one of my favorite teachers and credit him for helping to guide me through some difficult times. Rest in Peace, you made a positive impact in my life, I thank you.
