Paula Catherine Morton Cima, 86, of Somerville, Tennessee, died on October 11, 2025 after an extended illness. She was born August 20, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to William Adolphus Morton and Madge Caldwell Morton. Paula attended Memphis City Schools before attending Memphis State University (Bachelor of Science), Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology, and Memphis State University (Master of Arts, Philosophy). She worked at Baptist Memorial Hospital and the University of Tennessee Bowld Research Hospital. Later in life, she taught in the Biology and Philosophy departments at the University of Memphis.Paula was a life-long learner who enjoyed reading, teaching, and travel. Her gift for guidance touched the lives of her family, friends, and students. She was always available to offer wisdom and encouragement. She was a devoted grandmother, who created an environment of unconditional love and support.Paula was proceeded in death by her parents and leaves behind her husband of 57 years, John; her daughter, Catherine (Mitchell); a step grandson, Josh (Priya); and her granddaughter, Mary Madeline.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. A private service will be held at a later date.
