Peter, you've been my best teacher, a truly inspiration. I hope that where ever you are, your humbleness and simplicity shines and lightens the room as it did your class rooms. I will always pray for you.

No matter how exasperated I was with a client situation, Peter always had the time, knowledge and expertise to not only assist the client but help me too! I admired Peter for his thoughtful approach and his kindness. Peter was the absolute subject matter expert who was always willing to teach others. Rest in Peace my IBM colleague.

To the Barnett Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Peter gave me the courage to get a hip replacement, recommending the best hospital, and it changed my life. He was also my 'swim buddy', braving the cold ocean waters very early in the season, with a little friendly competition about who ventured in first. He will be greatly missed by our little beach community.

Peter was one of the most influential people in my life since the tender age of 24 when I first started working for him. He gave me professional advice, fatherly advance, and just plain old friendly advice through the years. He was just as active in the lives of my children. There's never been a kinder more gentle spirit. So much of who I am today is a result of Dr. Barnett. He will be sorely missed.
