Peter Bartock Obituary

Peter (Art) Dyni Bartock, Jr. HAMMOND, IN - Peter Dyni Bartock age 86, of Hammond, IN has been put to rest on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Riley Hospice Home in Munster, IN. He is survived by his four sons: David W. (Susan) Bartock, Philip A. (Christine Podgorny) Bartock, Peter D. (Elaine) Bartock III, Brian V. (Lisa) Bartock, and 1 daughter Melinda (Randy) Foresta. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving two sisters, Betty (Bartock) Balitewicz, and Jean Bartock; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peter was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 53 years, Lillian I. (Vincent) Bartock; and his brother Ralph Bartock; and, his parents, Catherine (Hable) Bartock, and Peter D. Bartock, Sr., and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at KUIPER FUNERAL HOME, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6525 Kentucky Ave., Hammond, IN. Rev. Charles Mosley officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, St. John, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at KUIPER FUNERAL HOME. Peter was born, and raised in Little Calumet (East Chicago). Growing up he was member of Holy Trinity Hungarian Church, and St Catherine of Siena. He graduated from Washington H.S., in 1951. Peter married Lillian in 1953, and raised five children. Peter worked as a MasonBricklayer at LTV Steel, where he retired at 42 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #4933. Peter was a member of the Navy Reserves. He was stationed in Virginia and commissioned on the Healey ship. He accomplished so much in his life. He was very proud of his Hungarian heritage; that he owned and operated the European Deli, in Hessville. He was an outdoorsman, and liked camping, and taught his children about nature. Dad was a hard worker, and loved all his children so much. His daughter, Mindy, and granddaughter Ashley, would always tell him, that he is the," Greatest Dad-Grandpa in the World." He would tell his kids, that, "Getting Old, is No Deal." He was the last of the true Gentlemen. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
