Bausch, Peter Joseph Of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, born to Eternal Life on August 9, 2014, at the age of 37. Beloved husband to Kerry. Doting father to Benjamin and Andrew. Loyal son of Thomas and Bernadine. Brother of John, Mary (Joe), Ann (Tom), Christopher (Paula), Elizabeth (Ed), Martha (Bill) and Thomas (Molly). Son-in-law to Richard and Charlene McKenna, brother-in-law to Lee (Michael) and Michael (Michelle). Peter was a committed family man, an accomplished sportsman, a true friend and a distinguished professional. In all things he was pure of heart. Peter's greatest joy was his family. He loved and cherished his wife Kerry. Whether they were on one of many great adventures across the country or hosting a backyard cookout they took great pleasure in each other's company. Peter was never so happy or proud as in his role as a father to Ben and Andrew. He excelled - if his children did it, he did it too. He was an exceptional role model and loved to harness his boys' boundless energy into productive activities filled with laughter, sweat and imaginary championships. His love of family extended to his many nieces and nephews of all ages for whom he always had a smile, a joke and the energy to organize one of countless backyard sporting events that came complete with a national anthem. He coached, he cheered and he was there. Peter was a true sportsman and loved the outdoors. He lived out of a tent in Colorado for months and hiked numerous beautiful spots from the Appalachian Trail to Yosemite National Park. He was an accomplished skier and cyclist who put the miles in at every opportunity. Peter raced in the Birkebeiner on several occasions and regularly competed in road and mountain bike races throughout the Midwest. He was a competitor in the truest sense of the word, constantly endeavoring to improve his own personal performance above all else. Peter's commitment to improvement and accomplishment extended to his academic and professional career as well. He completed an undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University and law degree from Marquette University, both with honors. Between his undergraduate studies and law school Peter volunteered for a year as a teacher at Marquette University High School. He achieved great success during his distinguished legal career which began at Boyle Fredrickson in Milwaukee after which he served as Technology Licensing Counsel at Micron Technologies in Boise. Most recently Peter had served as Patent & Technology General Counsel at S.C. Johnson. His career gave Peter the chance to travel to Asia, Europe and Australia fulfilling a desire to see the world that began with a semester in Spain during college. Throughout all of his stops from his childhood in Wisconsin, to his studies in St. Louis and his family's time in Boise, Peter was a true friend to many. When he made a friend he made a lifelong friend. He shared phenomenal adventures with all of them and was the consummate "goodtimer", always ready to have fun and laugh. As a son, a husband, a father, a brother, a son-in-law, a brother-in-law and a friend he will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14 from 3 to 7 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish, Wauwatosa (7474 Harwood Ave.) on Friday, August 15 at 11 AM. Private family graveside services at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Peter Bausch Educational Fund.

Not sure what to say?

I was fortunate to have played soccer with Peter in Tosa. It was always nice to have someone in the middle defense who looked like he drove his own car to the U12 games...intimidation works wonders. There's never a perfect thing to say when someone leaves earlier than expected but it sounds like his sons couldn't have a better dad/teacher/buddy in their lives.

Heartfelt and prayerful condolences from the Chicago Police Chaplains. Peter will be remembered at the Police Mass on Sunday, 24 AUG, 11:00 a.m. at Mercy Home - 1140 W. Jackson Blvd. In the meantime, may family and friends know the healing touch of our all-loving, all-merciful God! [Police Chaplains Ministry: www.ChicagoPCM.org or 312/738-7588]

I worked in a legal department with Peter. As an attorney, he was engaging, a good resource who saw things through, approachable, a humble, good man. We shared loved of family. My prayers go out to Peter's family at this difficult time. Patricia McGrath

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Peter was a respected professional colleague, loving husband and devoted father. For me, he was a great friend who taught me to have a real heart for the less fortunate in our world. He will be greatly missed and I'm very sorry for your loss.

Dear Bausch Family,
I knew Pete from our SLU days. Though we had lost touch in recent years, I remember Pete as an incredibly nice guy who would do anything for a friend. My heart aches for your tremendous loss. As a father of two boys, this puts so much into perspective. It sounds like Pete lived every day to the fullest, and that his memory will be an inspiration to many. God's blessings and comfort to you all.
