Not sure what to say?

I have just learned of Peter´s passing and am so sad he is no longer present on this earth. I knew Peter from my grad school days at Columbia where he was mentor and guide to so many of us. And that continued through my career in nonprofitdom where I continued to benefit from his wisdom, his humor, and his passion for justice. To his family, know that he is still thought of often with admiration and gratitude no matter where his spirit now resides.

I worked for Peter Swords back in 1974-78 when he was Assistant Dean at Columbia Law School. Fond memories of those days. I was very sad to hear of his passing.

Peter will always be held close in my heart. Peter was a wonderful human being.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family. I may not have ever met this incredible person...but I am most impressed and encouraged by his spirit and love for his fellow man. His service to our country and his service to its citizens at all levels, creeds, colors, religions, etc., is most commendable and deserving of recognition. I would have been honored to meet this extraordinary man. Bless his legacy and his family: God's speed, Peter Swords.

A remarkable man, dear friend and neighbor. Missing his gentle wise ways and his sense of humor. Jim and I are a bit lost without him. How can we find our way home from Hayward? Our love to Brenda, Deidre, and Eliza.

What a exquisite blessing to read about the life of this extraordinary man. Sending Healing Light to his Soul and to his family and friends.

I only know Peter from his role on the Board of the Mountain Top Historical Society. He was our treasurer and would wrangle the monthly accountants reports into a succinct report for Board meetings. He always cautioned us about watching the bottom line, but would end with an upbeat note. He will be hard to replace, on so many levels. His broad understanding of nonprofit legal issues made him an invaluable colleague. He and I worked together when we rewrote our Bylaws in 2014. His nonprofit...

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of the delightful and wonderful Peter Swords. I knew Peter from my days at the Rockefeller Family Fund in New York, where I became involved in monitoring policies that would impact New York nonprofits. Peter was the go to person on this subject, a font of knowledge and so generous with his insights. As an affable and highly capable advocate for the nonprofit sector, he served as a role model (and advocating for the nonprofit sector is exactly what I am...
