This is very sad news. Phil was a Midwestern mensch & a steadfast leader of DML. I was an editor for DML I while still a green grad student, & Phil treated me as he did his fellow, more seasoned, editors. I know that he & Marsha were in a nasty car crash some years ago that seemed to really debilitate him. I feel honored & privileged to have been on the same SSML panel with him two or so years ago.
