Mr. Lowry, thank you for your life of giving and caring. I was your 1st chair trumpet from 1973 to 1977 in the Mukilteo School District (Explorer Elementary and Olympic View Middle School). You were a true inspiration and mentor to so many of us, and I will always remember your infinite patience and warm smiles. I think about you every time I hear Dan Fogelberg´s "Leader of the Band". Rest well in Jesus´ arms, Mr. Lowry. You are loved and remembered by many. Jim Sundal

Dear Mr. Lowry,

I started band in 1960 in Arlington. I was scared of you as you pushed me on the trumpet to learn music after always music by memory.

In 1964, I taught myself to understand the notes and fingerings, and when I returned to school in the eighth grade, I sat down in the last of the trumpet section as always.everyone played their piece and when it was my turn and was completed, you put a smile on your face and told me to get to the other end of the horns.
