Philip Martin Obituary

Dr. Philip J. Martin

February 1, 1941 - September 28, 2024

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Dr. Philip J. Martin passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 83.

Phil was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Dr. Lee R. Martin and Marie Neff Martin. Phil was an honored Eagle scout, scholar and played in his high school band where he met his soulmate, Marilyn. In 1966 he graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine, the same school his father had attended, in Omaha. He completed his internship at Orange County Hospital in California and spent his career in private practice and serving at Patton State Hospital.

Phil is survived by his wife, Marilyn J. Sloan Martin, sons Jim, Mike, and Jeff (Lori), grandchildren Tim (Marika) and McKenna Mora (Vince), and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher, and sister Marcia Hastings.

Phil will be forever remembered as a lover of the arts, who enjoyed painting and music, and as an avid hockey fan. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished every holiday spent together, especially Christmas.

The family is holding a private celebration of life at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, CA.
