Not sure what to say?

Here it is 2024 I got to thinking about coach today when I heard Willie Nelson song turn out the lights the party`s over, I can always remember back in the 70s at University Hills Elementary school that was the last song during PE when he taught us all how to two step. rest well coach!

Just looked up Phil today on Google. Sorry to hear he passed. I was a friend of his in Las Cruces in the early 70's. Got married in '74 and moved away a few years later. Lost touch with him as life got in my way. Didn't have many friends, but I remember Phil was a good guy. Wish I had got in touch with him so I could have told him. Don't know any of his family, but if anyone wants to talk please call, thanks. Sincerely, Barney Stern 2200 Run Along Rd. Las Cruces NM 88007 5756351203

Carlsbad High School Class of 1961 sends condolences to Staci, Robbie and the family. We have lost another great class member who left a beautiful reflection of Carlsbad, New Mexico

Coach made PE so much fun it was my favorite class when I was at university hills he was the one that taught me to two step and to love to dance with his barn dances in the cafeteria those memories I will never forget he was an amazing teacher and I'm so glad I got to have him for all of my elementary years you will be missed your family is in my prayers and I know you are dancing in the clouds till we meet again

Will miss his great sense of humor. A really wonderful educator and person.

My thoughts and prayers to James, Staci and families in this difficult time He was a great man.

My condolences to your family. I have great (and funny) memories of Coach teaching us to two-step for indoor PE at University Hills Elementary. I realized later was such a good life skill. Much love to you all.

I was a student at University Hills 1978-1986 and I have very fond memories of Coach. In fact, many of us still speak of him and the lessons we learned through his dance lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Barn dances in the cafeteria are some of my favorite memories. Rest in peace, Coach. You had an amazing impact on so many of us.
