Phil served as an engaging teaching assistant, and a innovative electron beam welding researcher under Dr. Ed Funk at OSU. He was a brilliant engineer--Ed 's right hand man-- at Funk Fine Cast on Kinnear Road during grad school and later served as a quality engineer for various nuclear plants for Commonwealth Edison, largest utility in Illinois.
