Phillip Dale Hartmann, age 65 of San Antonio and Blanco, passed away December 23, 2020. Phillip was born in San Antonio on August 9, 1955 to Francis and Gertrude Hartmann. Phil attended Churchill High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University.
Phil had a long career and retired from USAA and, was the long standing President of Hermann Sons Lodge at Twin Sisters. He loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing and taking family and friends on tours of the ranch in his Mule. He loved life and it showed through his sunny disposition and his uplifting anecdotes. He will always be remembered as a talented man who could bring laughter and smiles to anyone, anywhere and anytime. He was well known for his playful and thoughtful poems for any occasion. As far as style goes, no one could TOP him on his wild assorted hat collection.
Phil is survived by his sons, Nicholas (Karen), Louis (Sara); Mother Gertrude; Brothers Stephen (Georgia), Guy (Linda); Sister Laurie; grandchildren Sara, Katie and Jayce; Fiancé Sherri Thrailkill; Nephews Edward (Molly), John (Shannon) and Cale; Nieces Shannon (Giorgio) Zambon and Kristin (Steve Keller); and 9 grand nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held 2:00 – 4:00 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Blanco.

I did not know Phillip Dale Hartmann much to my loss. He graduated a year before me at Churchill & many years before me at SWT. We were both in the financial industry and apparently share a love of hats. One of my daily joys is jumping in my Mule and feed and talk to our livestock. On the occasion when friends come in from out of town that is the mode of transportation! I wish I had known him, our condolences......

My condolences to the Hartmann family. Ever the professional. Phil’s positive demeanor, humor, and friendliness to all of his co-workers at USAA added fun to underwriting P&C insurance policies. I have fond memories of working with Phil and I’m sure he will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

I remember working with Phil like it was yesterday, but it was like 40 years ago. He was so kind and a giant gentleman with a smile no one would ever forget. My sympathy to the family. God Bless

My heart breaks for the loss of Phil so soon after he achieved such happiness. He had so many plans for the future that have all come to nought. When he checked in to the hospital Phil had no idea it was his final stay. My prayers are for Phil's mother, Gertrude, as no mother should lose her child, and Sherri, whose dreams will be unfulfilled.
God bless all of Phil's family.
