Placido Gioco Obituary

Placido "Butch" Gioco, 76, of Wethersfield has GONE FISHING. On April 25, 2023, Cido passed from this life on to the next big adventure. Known to many as Cido or Butch, he worked many years at Travelers, CNG and Riverfront Recapture as a Park Ranger. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, the Dallas Cowboys, the "Barker Street Boys", and his Dewar's and water with a lime. The most important thing to Cido, though, was the much joy and laughter from his family - often at his expense - and these times are treasured memories forever.

An avid fisherman, the best catch of his life was his wife of 54 years, Susan (Sullivan) who he married on March 22, 1969. Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Christine Munoz and her husband Rafael of Southington and his son, David Gioco and his wife Robyne of Hamden. Cido loved his son-in-law and daughter-in-law like his own children (despite their respective love of the NY Giants and Washington Commanders). Nothing brought Cido more joy than his grandchildren, Matthew Munoz and girlfriend MaryClaire Comeau and Ashley Munoz and boyfriend Max Marino. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by brother-in-law, Michael Sullivan of Rocky Hill; sister-in-law, Kathleen Dobek and her husband Gerry of South Carolina, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who he loved tremendously, and the many friends who became family.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 29, from 12-2:30 p.m. concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Where the Love Is Rescue in honor of all his great grand critters who he adored. Donations can be made online at www.wheretheloveis.org or by mail to 2514 Whitney Ave, P.O. Box 185093, Hamden, CT 06518. My deepest condolences on your loss. Talking with him was always a highlight of my day. I´ll never forget the day he showed up to the office with a paper bag stuffed with venison. Rest in peace Butch.
