Rachel C. Houle

Rachel C. (Gelinas) Houle, 88, of Southington passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert Houle for 68 years. Born September 10, 1932 in St. Gerard, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Herve and Florette (Bedard) Gelinas. Rachel was an OR Tech. at Bradley Memorial Hospital for 27 years before she retired. She was a talented seamstress, making all of her granddaughter's prom dresses and traveled twice a year with her husband Robert to see their family in Canada. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Jacques Houle and wife Elizabeth of Bristol, John Houle and wife Ingrid of Ocala, FL, Carol Martin and husband Danny of Burlington, Diane Cayer and husband Paul of Southington, Tricia Martin and husband Paul of Bristol and Jaden Cayer of Southington; twenty grandchildren whom she loved dearly along with her seventeen great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother Philippe Gelinas and wife Julliet and a sister, Sr. Mariette Gelinas all of Montreal Canada and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Rachelle Cayer and Steven Mayo; a brother Jean-Louis Gelinas and a sister, Sr. Lucille Gelinas. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July, 9th at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.
