Rae Evelyn Ginn

Mrs. Rae was a vital part to my childhood in Monterey, VA. I spent countless hours with her at her home after church or just during the week after school. We would play on the playground, sing, dance, make crafts... she was a ball of energy and I loved it! I have so much gratitude for this woman and all she has done for me. She started as my Little Rock teacher and her words of wisdom followed me into adulthood. My fondest memory would be each year I would help her set up her Christmas tree....

Rae was a huge part of my childhood and teenage life and also so many others in Highland County Virginia. She was basically Highland High Schools Godmother. Not only did she take care of 5 boys of her own, but so many kids at the school. I believe she made the bulk of the boys basketball team their uniforms and warm-ups in the early to mid 80's. She hosted "5th quarter" whereas all the Highland Sports teams were invited and encouraged to attend to eat and fellowship after games. There she...
