To the family of Ms. Raleigh my prayers are with you for the comfort of the Lord.
Ms. Raleigh was well known and loved throughout the neighborhood. I think of the times she was there as a friend to my mother Louise Sims who passed five years ago.
Ms. Raleigh would always check on Mom and make sure she had company and encouraged her to eat. She was a friend and I greatly appreciated her for being there.
When my father John B. Sims passed in 02 Ms. Raleigh said to me "Jackie what can I do for you" I asked her to cook me some chicken and dressing like she did when my Mom passed because it was so delicious. She did exactly that and I was very touched by her act of kindness.
I last saw her at my dad's funeral and I was comforted to see her. The day she passed I was reminiscing to my husband about the neighborhood and Ms. Raleigh came up because I had heard she had been sick and would be returning home soon.
I was remembering when she spoke at my mom's funeral about how my mom was friend to her. I was thinking of Ms. Raleigh’s kindness. So to the family James, Gloria and others Ms. Raleigh lived a long life and the many years I have known her I can say that she also loved others during her time with us. In all things to God be the Glory through Christ. Much Love, Jacqueline Gragg (formerly Sims).
