Not sure what to say?

I met Ralph through the Middletown Symphonic Band when I joined in the early 90’s. I played with him in Jim Salonia’s big band, marching bands, John Oblon’s big band and others and loved the big, full sound he got out of his trumpet. He also invited me to play with him in his brass quintet for a few years. I always appreciated the fact that he would call me to see if I was available to play in a group or gigs he was in if there was an opening for a trombone. My sincere condolences to all his...

I remember Ralph from high school. He was always very nice and was kind and ambitious. So sorry for for his family.

As one of Uncle Ralph´s nieces, we used to got to his house for Christmas Eve when I was young. I always think every year how much fun we had. We sang partridge in a pear tree, joked around, ate good homemade food (the meatballs were so good) played with our cousins and usually attempted to play pool in the basement as well as the pin ball machine. Auntie Betty and cousins and all the family, Uncle Ralph can rest now with Gram and Allyson. I´m so sorry for everyone´s loss. Even though...

We are very sorry for your loss.
We remember all the good times with Ralph and his family at family picnics.

One of the nicest and seemingly most life-loving people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Sad to learn of his passing but glad he enjoyed his (so-called ;-) “retirement”. My greatest sympathies to his family and friends.

BETTY, MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, I HAVE THOUGHT OF YOU OFTEN AND FONDLY REMEMBER OUR WORKING TOGETHER ON THE JOE DUFFY AND MIM DADDARIO CAMPAIGNS WHEN I WAS HOME ON BREAKS FROM GRADUATE SCHOOL! PEACE AND SOLACE IN THE MEMORIES FROM THE EXTRAORDINARY LIFE YOU SHARED WITH RALPH.

On behalf of the Mercy High School community, we offer our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Ralph Matteo, beloved brother of Michele '74; uncle of Kristen '93; father-in-law of Cassandra '85; and grandfather of Suzanne '17. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We are very sorry for your loss.
