As a teenager in the seventies I knew Mrs. Mapp as one of the most friendly, kind and genuinely interested moms I'd ever met--a rare sweet memory from high school. And now, having recently lost both my own mom in Richmond and my mum-in-law in New Zealand, I do empathize with the family and extend my deep sympathy in experiencing such profound loss.

To the family of Dr.Ramona H. Mapp,
We played together as children down in south Alabama. She was very much a tomboy. We went our separate way and she became a Doctor of Education and touched many lives . She will be missed by many .
Our hearts go out to the family and May the Peace of God be with you.

Hi I am sorry for your loss. I met her by being one of her caregivers. I only knew her for a short time about 3 months but in that time I got to know a great generous lady. We always joked about going to Paris and I guess I have to go now with an angel watching over me. Take care. Cheri Lane

Our community has lost a wonderful woman who for a half century contributed to the fabric of our society in higher education, scholarship, historical research, and culture. We all will miss her keen intellect and her caring about Hampton Roads as a special project
While the sadness now is overwhelming, the Mapps have been fortunate to share this beautiful woman for so long. To have such star power hold the light and brighten life’s pathways for you has been a great privilege.
