Raul was a kind soul who, like me, had an unwavering enthusiasm for insects. Over nearly 30 years, we met occasionally at meetings of the Connecticut Entomological Society, an organization to which he contributed greatly. He also participated in many bioblitzes in Connecticut and Rhode Island to help document the diversity of insects. He will be missed by the many biologists who wandered the field with him in search of nature's prizes.
