I was a student of Mr. Stumbo's at Carmel High...and never will forget his legendary Civil War lecture that began precisely one second after the bell rang and class began...and ended one full second before the dismissal bell rang. A masterpiece. Great teacher...not an easy one but a challenging one.

Dearest Jean, It is with a sad heart that we write this note to express our deepest sympathy due to the loss of your dear Ray. We know you are proud of him, not only as your beloved husband, but he was truly a man of integrety and outstanding character.
Although we are not able to be with you at the present time, be assured we are thinking of you in this time of sorrow.
You and Ray are such dear friends. We will miss his presence and friendship.
With Love, Maryan and John Shipley
