Byles Memorial Home - New London Obituary

RAYMOND O. DAHLSTROM age 80 of Groton passed away on 


Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. 


He was born in Astoria, Queens, New York on August 24, 1943 the son of Oskar and Ellizabeth Carlsen Dahlstrom. Raymond was married to Marcia Sjoman Maher on April 17, 2004 in Fairfield, Connecticut.


Raymond ran several successful business and retired as a firefighter with the New York Fire Department after 24 years of service. He also had served in the Army National Guard during the Viet Nam era. 


Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Dahlstrom of North Bellmore, NY, his son Raymond E. Dahlstrom (Jessica) of Massapequa, NY, two grand daughters Genevieve and Katerina Dahlstrom, a step son, Christopher Maher of Danbury and two step grandsons, Jack and Cody Maher. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Johnson. 


A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12 at noon at Faith Lutheran Church, 625 Poquonnock Road, Groton. Interment with Military Honors will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton A visiting hour at Faith Lutheran will be from 11 until the start of service. Donations in his memory may be directed to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 665765 or the American Cancer Society,  6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
