I think of Ray so often, and bless him for his kindness, good humor and great skill, especially when visiting my daughter's home that he helped my parents, John & Ruth Bryan re-construct in the early 70's. He has left us a legacy in that home. Now a new generation is growing up there, thanks to his superb carpentry. We all enjoyed knowing him, and I just wish we still had him here for a visit. We will all miss him.

Dear Carmela and family, I am one of the lucky ones to have know Ray. He worked with my parents, Ruth and John Bryan renovating their old house on 10th and Olive in the early 1970's and by the end of construction we felt like we were all family. I was a teenager at the time and always appreciated Ray's kind nature and good sense of humor! He was truly one of a kind! My mom and dad respected his knowledge and craft! He will be missed. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers..........

I'm so blessed to have had Uncle Ray in my life. He was strict with me when I visited there as a kid but it never bothered me. I knew that meant he loved me and he did. One (out of many) memories I have is waking up at their farm excited to get out there and help Uncle Ray do whatever he had to do. I was watching the chickens and he said, "Well? You gonna feed 'em or WHAT?" I was thrilled that he'd let me (of course he knew that). I miss you Uncle Ray.

I had the honor of writing Ray Pesenti's life story for Paso Robles Magazine when he was Pioneer Day Marshal in October 2009. He was my all-time favorite person in 15 years of interviewing old-timers, and he sent me the nicest note: "Thank you for the great interpretation of my life and family story. I gained another good friend." It has been posted on my refrigerator ever since.
May his family be comforted by his own words spoken in 2009 as Ray told his life story:
“I'm just one of the lucky ones to have lived a long life. I've done a lot of things, did work I enjoyed, and I've seen a lot of changes. There are a few things I might have done differently, but I don't know what I could have done that was any better. I enjoyed my life. I do what I want, get up when I want, don't have to answer to anyone except my wife.”

To all the Pesenti family ~ My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I know this is a hard time & I hope you remember all the wonderful times with Ray. Love & Hugs Sandi Birchfield
