Rebecca Green Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Rebecca Gale Green Rebecca Gale Green, 51, beloved and loving wife, mother, and true friend passed away on January 23, 2005, after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband Stephen Stubbs, son Colin Stubbs, mother Elizabeth Warlick Green of Cedar Park, and her brother Randy Green of Austin. Rebecca was born on July 26, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She soon became the chosen daughter of Major Sydney and Elizabeth Green. She and her family traveled the U.S. and Europe before settling in Austin in 1968. Rebecca graduated from McCallum High School and The University of Texas at Austin. She worked for many years as a cartographer for the state but found her true calling as a wife, mother, volunteer and caregiver. Rebecca loved life, her family, and her many, many friends. Hiking and camping in the mountains, tennis with the Wild Hearts and others, volunteer days at school, all brought a smile to her face that grew even brighter when she was with her family, her friends, and her pets. All of us who knew and loved her will miss her greatly and remember her often. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, at Cook- Walden Chapel of the Hills with Pastor John Eastman officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Rebecca's name to a Humane Society or animal rescue service.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss, Steve....yours and Colin's. This has to be very hard on you both, and her mom. Why things happen as they do, we never know - only God can get you through this difficult time; remember you have many friends and co-workers who care very much for you. God bless you and Colin during this difficult time.

I will miss her smile, her point of view, her easy going nature, and her shared love of the 4 legged creatures. She was a truly gentle soul.

I'll never forget her happiness on the tennis court and especially in our win against the youngsters at South Austin. I'll miss her and I'll miss the happiness she made me feel.
