Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home - Evendale/Blue Ash Obituary

Richard M. “Rick” Hughes, also affectionately known as “Bodo” or “Big Stick”, devoted son to the late James G. and Virginia M. (nee Hathorn) Hughes. Cherished brother to the late Carolyn (the late Ken) Roll, Jim (Janet) Hughes, Kathy (Rick) Wilking, and David (Judy Lester) Hughes. Beloved Uncle to Chris (Angie) Wilking, Kelly (Andrew) Cush, Tyler (Carey) Rothschild, Erika (Andy) Cale, Karyn Roll, Amy (Justin) Woods, Molly (Will) Silvers, and A.J. (Jessica) Hughes. Also survived by 15 adoring great nieces and nephews.

Rick loved music and loved golf. He was a great storyteller, and enjoyed a good joke, leading to some funny pranks with his golf buddies (there was certainly retaliation). His dry sense of humor often made him the life of the party. Rick also maintained a quiet home life and lived life on his own terms.

The family would like to sincerely thank all his close friends who were always there for him, especially Karen and Tony Andrews.

Rick passed quietly after a recent illness on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Friends and family are welcome to share memories of Rick by signing the online guest book, or if so inclined, memorial contributions may be made to a charity close to Rick’s heart; The Jeffery G. Hoeh Memorial Fund, which has helped individuals and families suffering from cancer or other catastrophic illnesses since 1989.

Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home is honored to assist the family. A private Memorial for Rick will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
