Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

Richard Neill Brady - Former TDS Manager

Richard N. Brady, 82, of New London, NH died at his home on December 28, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer.

Born in Orange, NJ on December 2, 1935 he was the son of the late H. Neill and Marion (Jacobus) Brady. He was a 1953 graduate of Clifford J. Scott High School in East Orange, NJ, attended Holderness School in 1954, and UNH from 1955-56. Dick served in the USA National Guard from 1958 to 1964.

He was a summer resident in New London from 1950 to 1955 working at Twin Lake Villa. He worked at A.S. Little and Son Garage and Kidder Garage before joining Kearsarge Telephone Company in 1961. Kearsarge Telephone Company became TDS and Dick was manager there until 1996 when he retired. During his tenure there he was responsible for many innovations, including bringing cable television to the New London area. In 2014 he was inducted into the Telephone Association of New England Hall of Fame "In recognition of outstanding contribution to the Telephone Industry of New England".

Dick loved and was active in his community of New London. He was a member of The First Baptist Church and for many years until November of this year sang in the choir. He was a member of The Boys Club of New London, Lions Club, Rotary International, the Outing Club, New London Fire Department volunteer, Lake Sunapee Country Club, the Profile Auto League and a Founding member of the Kearsarge Youth Hockey Association. He loved golf, hockey, the Ice House Museum, working with fellow classmates on Clifford J. Scott reunions, model railroading, winter in Florida, Ocean Park, ME, gardening, photography, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, New England Sports (Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins), attending children's and grandchildren's events, and his many friends.

Most of all he loved his family in all its many facets. He will be remembered by them as loving, supportive, generous, meticulous, as well as hard-working, practical, conservative, and sometimes a bit stubborn. A very brief description of him would be that he was a very kind and caring person.

Those he leaves behind who will dearly miss him are his long time and loving partner, Linda Myers, his sister Barbara Brady Conn of Surprise, AZ, his sons Mark (Cindy) Brady of New London, and Alan (Brenda) Brady of Wilmot, and his daughter Jill Salvail of Eliot, Maine. He also leaves his grandchildren whom he loved dearly Alissa Brady Megee, Nicholas Brady, Clare Brady, James Brady, Brady Salvail, Brooke Salvail and Matthew Brady, as well as his niece Sarah Conn and a step-grandson Sean Harrington.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Nichols Brady, and by his nephew, Brady Conn.

Services with a reception following will be held at The First Baptist Church, 461 Main Street, New London, NH on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Kearsarge Youth Hockey Association, PO Box 1771 or to the Ice House Museum, PO Box 299, both in New London, NH 03257.

Not sure what to say?

Loved that Guy

I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Brady's death. I remember with great fondness his sense of humor, easy smile and kind manner. He was a true gentleman.

My deepest sympathies to the family. Dick and I shared our love for Model A's and the Profile Automobile League. I was pleased that after I left New London 35 years ago Dick acquired my 1930 Roadster and I knew she was in good hands. Many fond memories

It was a pleasure to know Dick in recent years. I send my caring thoughts to his family and Linda Myers, his companion, my lifetime friend from Bradford. Nancy Hammond Isaacson

Jill and the whole family -
I'm so sorry about your dad's passing. He was a wonderful man with a positive outlook. I have so many memories of him from growing up - throwing quarters in the Country Club pool to dive for, "frost bite" tours in the rumble seat, and always a smile and greeting in the brick room when I came by. My condolences and love,

Mark, our deepest sympathies to you and all of your family. Dick was a good man, and the world was a better place because of him. May he Rest In Peace.

Dear Linda and families: I remember playing golf in the Dawn Patrol with Dick. He was always calm, polite and competitive - simply a joy to play with. Although Marilyn and I did not know Dick well we will always remember him as a decent man, and one who epitomized the phrase"GOOD MAN"!
Our condolences to you, Linda, and to all of the families. Jon & Marilyn Barselle

My deepest condolences.

Mark, Al & Jill--So sorry to hear of Dick's passing! GREAT GUY;
always in a good mood with a smile on his face and a positive outlook--we need more like him, not less....
My condolences,
Alan Craigie
