Dear Evie, Emilie, Fran and Sarah,

I am thinking of all of you and your families. I know that Dick was beloved by all of you. Sad to know that he has passed on.

My deepest sympathy to Evelyn, Fran, Sarah Jane, Emily, and their families, and Andy's family. Although I did not know Richard well, I feel as though I did, through the warm way that Fran always spoke of him, and of his wise and humorous advice on practicing law and living life. Love, Martha

So many years ago Dick Cohen shared his kindness and expertise with Evelyn's friend, Phyllis Friedman, and me. Before I went to law school and Phyllis became a TV stylist we were roommates, two Philadelphia innocents loving New York's bright lights. However, alas, the financial responsibility that accompanied those lights was new to us. So each tax season, on one evening, we would be sitting on the floor, surrounded by papers and at wit's end. Dick also had a sharp sense of humor in a quiet way, and always made me laugh with his quick wit, completely unexpectedly. Beginning in 2008, when Dick and Evie came to south Florida for the winter, I had the pleasure to work for them until the summer of 2011.
