I remember Richard as a fellow member of the Wednesday Writer's Group, a group he joined after he left the Notre Dame group. While a member of the WW, his writings were published in the book, FILLING IN THE DASH. The memoirs he shared were nostalgic, informative and humorous. My favorite was the one about the Valentine Day card. It brought tears to my eyes. His stories about life in the Navy during WWII made me laugh as well, especially his shore leave antics.
