Rich's literary accomplishments are well known. At college he also acted in plays by Noel Coward, Tennessee Williams, and Shakespeare. He had a fine singing voice as well. He was kind and amiable and will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear about Rich. I worked for Rich´s first literary agent, Helen Merrill, whose office was located in the same building where Rich lived. Rich´s frequent visits were the highlight of Helen´s and my workdays. I was lucky to attend the opening night of Rich´s play, Eastern Standard, and go with Helen that same evening to the NYT loading dock on 43rd St. to buy the paper and read Frank Rich´s glowing review of Rich´s play. ...

I am so sad to hear about Rich´s passing. We were colleagues at Yale and he never ceased to keep me entertained and challenged. The world has lost a true champion of drama.
